Jeff Galaxy Regina, SK
Jeff Galaxy runs the mid-west's largest and most successful outdoor, electronic event every August called Connect. Jeff Galaxy is also a robot. This explains his un-human (yes that's a word) ability to mix records. He is a prototype Roland device that can flawlessly spin, gone renegade. Upon his escape from the top secret Roland laboratory, he realized his ethylene battery was running low and could only fuel himself by consuming mass amounts of alcohol. Connect is a brainwashing experiment used to assemble an army of ravers driven by pounding techno music. He also, as I'm told, has built in TB-303 emulators, just listen to him carefully and you can pick up the unmistakable "wah wooah" sounds. You can tell he is getting stronger as his side burns are engulfing the planet. |

Joel West Vancouver, BC
Joel West is a native of British Columbia, Canada, and now is back calling Vancouver home base. Joel grew up in one of the last hippy havens in North America, in the beautiful Slocan Valley outside of Nelson, BC, and spent his childhood dancing late at night to the funk and jam bands that flourished in the area. Listening to a lot of hip hop and jazz as a teenager, you will still hear these influences in any of Joel's sets. Joel got into electronic music heavily after going out east to Montreal to go to school, and bought his first decks shortly after, while in Sudbury, Ontario, where he ran a Saturday night dance/electronic show on Laurentian University's CFRU radio. After moving to Guelph, Ontario, Joel met some great djs who showed him the ropes and he began to play out. From there to Toronto, where Joel quickly landed a residency at the Drake Hotel, playing four and five hour sets in the lounge and on the patio. Joel was just getting his motor running with gigs at System Soundbar, Revival, Steam, The Guverment, and Nasa among others, when BAM! He moved again, back out west. At the moment, Joel is about to sell his soul to get his eager hands on the gear necessary to move more seriously into the production realm. An up-and-comer, Joel West's name is soon to become a lot more familiar to Vancouver's house scene. |
